Room area calculator
Add your rooms by length and width to get each room's floor area, the total in square metres and square feet, how much flooring to buy and how much skirting you need.
Area = length × width for each rectangular room; split an L-shaped room into two rectangles. Skirting ignores door openings. Measure wall to wall at floor level.

How it is calculated
A rectangular room's area is its length times its width. Split an L-shaped or irregular room into rectangles and add them.
Flooring is sold with a cutting allowance: about 5–10% for straight-laid boards or tiles, 15% or more for diagonal or herringbone layouts.
1 m² is 10.764 ft². Skirting is the sum of the room perimeters, minus door openings.
