Plan a nursery from a photo of the room
Most nurseries start life as a spare room full of other things. Upload a photo of it as it is and see it cleared and furnished as a nursery, so you can agree on colours and layout before buying anything.
Things you can ask for
- “Clear this room and make it a calm nursery with a cot, a chest of drawers with a changing top and an armchair for feeding”
- “Warm minimal in soft white and oat, an oak cot and blackout curtains”
- “Keep the wardrobe, paint the walls a muted sage and add a soft rug”
- “Gender-neutral Scandinavian with a low shelf for books”
- “A dimmable warm lamp by the chair and no bright overhead light”
What a nursery actually needs
Fewer things than the shops suggest: a cot, somewhere to change nappies at a height that suits your back, closed storage for clothes and supplies, a comfortable chair for night feeds and a light you can dim. Everything else is decoration, and decoration is the part a baby notices least.
- Light: a dimmable warm lamp near the chair, and curtains or a blind that darken the room for daytime naps.
- Colour: muted mid-tones are calmer than bright white in a room used at night; keep stronger colour for things that change, like bedding and art.
- Storage: closed drawers for clothes, and a basket or two beside the changing area so supplies are within reach while you change the baby.
- Plan for the toddler: the nursery becomes a child's room within a year or two, so neutral furniture lasts longer.
Safety points to plan around
The redesign is a picture and cannot check safety. As general guidance for any nursery: place the cot away from windows, radiators and heaters, and away from blind cords and curtain ties; keep anything that could fall, such as shelves or heavy frames, away from the wall above the cot; anchor chests of drawers and wardrobes to the wall; and follow your health service's current safe-sleep advice for what goes in the cot.
How to do it in Kubikly
- Photograph the spare room as it is, from the doorway, in daylight, with the window in frame and the lights on so the analysis can see the corners where the cot or chair might go.
- Choose Clean & redesign if the room is full of storage boxes, or Full transformation if nothing in it is staying.
- There is no nursery preset. Warm Minimal, Scandinavian or Kids are good starting points, or describe the style in words.
- Mark anything that is staying, such as a wardrobe, Keep.
- Ask for up to three options to compare colour schemes side by side.
Frequently asked
- Is there a nursery style preset?
- No. Use Warm Minimal, Scandinavian or Kids, or describe what you want, for example “calm, soft green, oak furniture”.
- Can it place the cot in the right spot?
- It can show the cot where you ask, but the image has no measurements and cannot judge distances to a radiator or a window. Decide the real position using safe-sleep guidance.
- Can I share the design with family?
- Yes. Download the image or share a before/after composite. Nothing is published.
- How much does it cost?
- The first room redesign is free on a verified account; it uses the account's one free generation. After that each design, option or revision costs 3 credits, shown before you confirm.
