Redesign your living room from a photo
A living room has to work for evenings, guests and the television at once, and most of them grow by accident: a sofa from one flat, a rug from another, a lamp from a third. Upload a photo and see the same room pulled together in one style, with the pieces you want to keep still in it.

Asked: “Furnish this empty room as a cosy Scandinavian living room.” · Redesign · Scandinavian
Seen through the same doorway: the frosted doors, the window and the floor lamp position are kept, and the room behind is furnished.

Things you can ask for
- “Keep the sofa, replace the coffee table and add a large rug the front legs can sit on”
- “Warmer for evenings: a floor lamp by the armchair, two table lamps, no ceiling light”
- “Scandinavian with light oak; keep the bookcase and the plants”
- “Make the TV wall calmer with a low closed media unit in walnut”
- “Furnish this empty room as a cosy living room for four people”
What makes a living room work
Start with the conversation, not the walls. Seats that face each other across a coffee table, close enough to talk without raising your voice, make a room feel lived in. A sofa against one wall staring at a television on the opposite wall makes it feel like a waiting room.
- The rug: big enough that at least the front legs of the sofa and chairs sit on it. A small rug floating in the middle is the most common reason a living room looks unfinished.
- The light: three or more sources at different heights (a floor lamp, a table lamp, something on a shelf) instead of one central ceiling light.
- Materials: one wood tone and one metal, each repeated two or three times, read as designed. Five different woods read as collected by accident.
- The television: a darker wall behind it, or a low unit with closed doors, helps it disappear when it is off.
Getting a good result for a living room
Photograph from the corner opposite the main window, or from the doorway, standing, with the phone in landscape and the floor and the ceiling line in frame. That gives the analysis the sofa wall, the window and the floor area it needs to place a rug or a lamp convincingly.
Then decide how much should change. If the sofa is new and the rest is tired, choose Redesign and mark the sofa Keep. If the room is full of things that have no home, Clean & redesign clears them first. If you want to see a different room on the same footprint, Full transformation replaces everything movable and leaves the architecture alone.
Try three directions at once
The living room is where people most often cannot choose between styles. Ask for up to three options in one go, for example Scandinavian, Modern Classic and Organic Modern, and compare them side by side. They share the same analysis of your room, so the differences you see are the design, not a different reading of the room. Then revise the one you like: “darker floor”, “two smaller armchairs instead of one”.
What the picture cannot tell you
The design shows one viewpoint and contains no measurements, so it cannot say whether a three-seater fits between the radiator and the door. It also will not name the sofa it drew. Measure before you buy, and use the image as the brief.
Frequently asked
- Will it move my fireplace or radiator?
- No. Fireplaces, radiators, windows, doors and built-ins are part of the fixed architecture the analysis records, and every result is checked against your original photo. A result that moved them is retried.
- Can it furnish an empty living room?
- Yes. Choose Redesign or Full transformation and say how you use the room: “seating for four, a reading corner, the TV on the left wall”. An empty room photographed in daylight with the floor visible is a good starting point, as the example on this page shows.
- Can I see the redesign from another angle?
- No. The design is an edit of your photo, so it keeps your photo's viewpoint. Upload a second photo from another corner for a second view.
- Will it tell me which sofa to buy?
- No. It does not identify brands or link to products. The spec panel lists what was kept, removed and added, which is a useful description to shop from.
